The Paris Motor Show, Europe's largest automotive exhibition, is set to open on October 12. This year, the event will feature 100 exhibitors, including approximately 60 car manufacturers. A record-breaking 20 Chinese automotive brands will participate, accounting for one-third of the total manufacturers present.
This figure represents a doubling of Chinese brand participation compared to the 2024 event, which saw only 10 brands. The list of new entrants includes AITO, Avatr, Li Auto, GAC Aion, and 212, joining established names like BYD and Chery. According to Francois Roudier, Secretary General of the OICA, the influx of Chinese brands is revitalizing the show as some traditional manufacturers reduce their presence.
Roudier noted that the increased participation reflects rising competitive pressures in both Chinese and European markets. He suggested that manufacturers who skip the event risk losing sales momentum in an increasingly crowded market. Meanwhile, European automakers are responding with new models, including the Audi A2 e-tron, Skoda Peaq, Dacia Striker, and Fiat Grizzly, alongside concept cars from Renault and Citroen.
Despite the competitive environment, BMW has decided not to attend the show, even though the company has new models such as the 3 Series, iX4, and X5 available for display.
