The State Administration for Market Regulation of China has approved four new national standards for GNSS radio occultation detection. These standards were developed under the guidance of the China Meteorological Administration and cover the entire technological chain from hardware to data application.

The new regulations include technical requirements for GNSS occultation payloads, quality inspection protocols for data, classification of data products, and standardized data formats. These measures aim to unify technical specifications for satellite remote sensing technology used to monitor atmospheric parameters.

The standards define four levels of data processing, ranging from level 0 to level 3, and establish specific metrics for verifying atmospheric temperature, humidity, pressure, and ionospheric electron density. This framework is intended to facilitate data management and cross-departmental sharing.

Looking ahead, the authorities plan to implement these standards across various sectors, including manufacturing, water conservancy, aviation, maritime, agriculture, transportation, and national defense.
