The State Administration for Market Regulation of China has announced the implementation of the new national standard GB/T 47352—2026, which regulates battery swapping systems for electric motorcycles and mopeds. The standard will officially take effect on October 1.
The regulation focuses on three core objectives: speed, safety, and reliability. It mandates specific technical requirements for battery compartment layouts and interface designs to ensure that batteries can be installed and locked into place quickly and accurately across different brands.
To enhance user safety, the standard introduces strict requirements for electrical, mechanical, and material safety. It specifies standards for voltage resistance, insulation resistance, and temperature rise at battery interfaces to prevent short circuits and overheating, while also setting flame retardancy levels for materials.
The reliability framework includes comprehensive testing protocols. Manufacturers must conduct energy consumption and battery level accuracy tests, as well as mechanical stress tests such as sinusoidal vibration and impact testing to prevent structural failure.
The standard also mandates durability testing for battery interface plug-in cycles. Following these tests, components must maintain normal functionality and meet temperature rise standards to ensure long-term mechanical and electrical connection integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
