The State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China officially approved the NearLink wireless communication system series of national standards. This transition from a group standard to a recommended national standard marks a significant milestone for the technology.
The newly released series, designated GB/T 48336.101—2026 and subsequent parts, establishes a comprehensive technical framework. It covers the overall architecture, access layers, basic service layers, and application layers, ensuring standardized development across the industry.
Specific sections of the standard define technical requirements and testing methods for Synchronous Low Latency Broadband and Synchronous Low Energy interfaces. Other parts address device discovery, quality of service, and integration with 5G cellular networks.
The standards also provide guidelines for various application scenarios, including audio and video streaming, media control, positioning, and IP bearer services. These regulations are expected to support product development, quality control, and market entry.
The implementation of these national standards is set to begin on April 1, 2027. This move is intended to provide authoritative technical backing for NearLink products and accelerate the large-scale adoption of the technology in the market.
