China Mobile and Qualcomm Technologies have successfully completed the world's first connection test between a 6G prototype base station and a terminal prototype. The test was conducted at the China Mobile Collaborative Innovation Base using the U6G frequency band, which spans from 6425 MHz to 7125 MHz.

The technical validation utilized a 128-channel massive MIMO base station provided by China Mobile, supporting a 400 MHz downlink bandwidth. Qualcomm supplied the 6G terminal prototype platform, which features a 200 MHz uplink bandwidth and a 4T8R configuration. The test confirmed the feasibility of end-to-end link integration.

This achievement marks a shift for 6G technology from theoretical research to systematic verification. The companies focused on aligning baseband and radio frequency requirements as defined by the latest 3GPP standards, utilizing a subcarrier spacing of 30 kHz for the large-bandwidth channel.

The initiative aligns with China's broader telecommunications development goals. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has outlined plans to establish a comprehensive, high-performance next-generation communication network by 2030, which includes the development of 6G base stations and smartphones.
