The research team, supported by the State Administration for Market Regulation's Technical Innovation Center for Mass Spectrometry, developed the LC-MiniMS system. This device addresses common limitations of traditional LC-MS/MS systems, such as large physical size, high costs, and complex operation procedures.
Engineers successfully optimized core components, including the vacuum system, ion transmission, and circuit stability. These technical advancements allow for high-precision quantitative analysis while significantly reducing manufacturing costs and physical dimensions, effectively ending reliance on foreign technology.
The system is currently used in clinical settings for the precise analysis of vitamins, hormones, and therapeutic drugs. It provides a viable solution for drug monitoring in resource-constrained or decentralized medical environments.
Following a collaboration between academic researchers and domestic manufacturers, the device received a Class II medical device license. It is the first dedicated clinical liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry system to be approved for market launch in China.
