Chery plans to introduce its iCar brand to the UK market in early 2027 under the international name iCaur. This will be the company's fifth brand in Britain, following the introduction of Omoda, Jaecoo, Lepas, and the Chery brand itself. The launch will be spearheaded by the V27, a five-seat SUV model.
The V27, which serves as the flagship SUV for the brand, launched in China in March 2024 as an extended-range electric vehicle. While the specific powertrain and pricing for the UK market remain unconfirmed, Chery is currently adapting the vehicle for local roads at its new research and development facility located at UTAC Millbrook.
The iCaur brand will operate with a dedicated team and independent sales channels separate from Chery's existing UK portfolio. Currently, iCaur vehicles are available in 40 countries, with the company recently expanding its international production footprint, including the start of V23 SUV assembly in Malaysia in July 2024.
Chery has demonstrated significant growth in the UK since entering the market with Omoda in 2024. According to SMMT data, the company's brands secured a 7% market share during the first nine months of 2024, positioning Chery as the leading Chinese automaker in the country. In September alone, their combined market share reached 9.4%.
