Chery has opened reservations for its Stockman diesel plug-in hybrid truck in Australia. This model, known in China as the Rely Hi800, is the first diesel-powered PHEV pickup globally. The vehicle features a 2.5-liter internal combustion engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 469 hp and 800 Nm of torque.

The truck offers an electric-only range of 100 km and a fuel consumption rate of 2 liters per 100 km. It is capable of towing up to 3,500 kg. The dimensions of the vehicle are 5450/2010/1890 mm with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm and a ground clearance of 247 mm. The cargo box measures 1,560 mm in length and width.

Australian customers can place a refundable reservation for AUD 1,000 ($693). Early buyers receive three years of free service and an AUD 2,000 ($1,386) gift card for an outdoor retail chain. While the official price is not yet set, analysts estimate it will range between AUD 60,000 and AUD 70,000 ($41,600 – $48,535).

The Stockman was tuned specifically for local road conditions by Chery engineers. Inside, the five-seat cabin includes a large touchscreen, an LCD instrument cluster, and a head-up display. The truck will compete in the Australian market against the BYD Shark 6 and the GWM Cannon Alpha.
