Changxin Memory has started mass production of LPDDR6 memory, which will debut in the Xiaomi 18 Fold flagship smartphone. The company claims this is the first commercial application of LPDDR6 in a high-end smartphone.

The new memory complies with the JEDEC LPDDR6 standard and uses an FBGA package with 1295 contacts. Each chip has a capacity of 16 Gb up to a maximum data transfer rate of 12,800 Mbps. When operating with a SoC, the speed is 10,667 Mbps.

Compared to LPDDR5X at the same speed of 10,667 Mbps, the new memory provides 60% higher bandwidth bandwidth and 20% lower power consumption. The technology features a dual-channel architecture, improved signal transmission settings, and intelligent interface learning for high-speed stability.

The memory includes Link ECC and On Die ECC, Row Hammer attack protection, and built-in self-testing. During the development process, Changxin optimized more than 100 key circuits and design rules.

Pre-orders for the Xiaomi 18 Fold are already open, with sales starting September 10. The starting price in China is ¥11,000.
