The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has introduced a new regulatory framework for cryptocurrency exchanges. This initiative focuses on retail transactions involving leverage, margin, or financing, though it excludes general spot trading.

The proposal introduces two specific rules: Regulation CTX and Regulation CAM. Under these requirements, crypto entities must register with the commission and implement strict controls, including proof-of-reserves and anti-manipulation measures.

The agency notes that its current authority over spot exchanges is limited. Further expansion of its regulatory oversight in this area depends on future legislative actions by the U.S. Congress.
