Celestia has launched Fibre, a parallel data availability layer for its mainnet. The activation occurred on October 20, 2026, following approval from validators representing 83.33% of the network's voting power.

Fibre allows rollups to send data blobs directly to validators, bypassing the standard L1 data square. The system supports blobs up to 128 MiB, with a minimum size of 256 KiB and a limit of 200 submissions per block.

The native TIA token is required for staking, fee payments, and mandatory escrow deposits for Fibre users. Fees consist of a base component and a variable part that scales with the size of the submitted data.

The network maintains two data paths: the standard L1 route for smaller payloads up to 8 MiB and the new high-throughput Fibre channel for large-scale data requirements.

During October 2026 benchmarks, Fibre achieved 3.07 Tb/s throughput across 120 validators, following an earlier 1 Tb/s test in January 2026. The current mainnet version operates with more conservative limits.
