Cboe Global Markets and S&P Dow Jones Indices have extended their exclusive licensing agreement for 25 years, with the contract now set to run through 2051. As part of this long-term partnership, the companies will investigate the development of tokenized options contracts.

The collaboration between the two firms dates back to 1983, when they first introduced SPX options. Cboe will continue to hold the exclusive rights to provide trading services for S&P 500 Index options.

Performance data for 2025 shows that the SPX contract suite surpassed 970 million traded contracts. Additionally, the average daily volume for these instruments grew by 25% compared to the previous year, reaching 3.9 million.

Cboe remains focused on expanding its range of SPX options and VIX offerings. The company continues to introduce new product structures and additional expiration dates to its existing lineup.
