CATL has expanded its battery swapping network to over 2,520 stations across 31 provinces and 200 cities in China. The company has deployed nearly 20,000 batteries into its system, which supports multiple vehicle brands and models through a standardized platform.
The network currently covers all major first and second-tier cities, with small and medium-sized cities accounting for over 80% of the total locations. CATL utilizes digital management and digital twin technology to monitor the health and lifecycle of every battery in the network.
Looking ahead, CATL plans to build 1,000 highway battery swapping stations between 2026 and 2027. This initiative aims to establish a network of 11 vertical and 9 horizontal routes covering 20 major national highways, with stations placed every 100 kilometers.
To mark the expansion, the company is launching a promotional event from September 30 to October 7, offering free battery swaps. The automated swapping process takes 99 seconds and does not require the driver to exit the vehicle.
