CATL and Octopus Energy have launched a joint venture named Swaptopus to develop a battery-swapping network for commercial trucks across Europe. The initiative aims to address long charging times and battery longevity issues that currently hinder the electrification of commercial fleets.

The project features TECTRANS II, a modular battery platform for electric trucks unveiled at the IAA Transportation event. The partners estimate that the network could eventually support over 300,000 electric trucks and attract more than £30 billion in private investment.

CATL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DHL Group to advance the decarbonization of road freight in Europe. The collaboration includes industry partners such as Quibo Energy and FleetBoost, which specialize in mobile charging and battery energy storage systems.

The partnership aligns with DHL Group's objective to reach net-zero emissions in logistics by 2050. CATL plans to integrate logistics demand with vehicle technology, charging infrastructure, and battery-swapping services to provide scalable solutions for freight transport.
