Digital Asset CEO Yuval Rooz stated at the Token2049 conference in Singapore that the crypto industry must accelerate institutional adoption to protect itself from potential US policy shifts. He suggested that widespread blockchain integration would make it difficult for future administrations to reverse industry progress after the 2028 presidential election.
Rooz drew parallels to the growth of Uber and Airbnb, noting that these services became deeply entrenched in the economy before regulators could effectively restrict them. He argued that the crypto sector should aim for a similar level of ubiquity to ensure that legislative efforts to curb the industry become ineffective.
The discussion follows the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in a Senate procedural vote in September. Currently, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission continue to regulate the sector using their existing authority.
Binance co-CEO Richard Teng expressed hope that the CLARITY Act would eventually pass, citing regulatory backtracking as a primary concern for the industry. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson added that while legislation offers certainty, the sector should not depend solely on the act, as regulators are already providing clarity.
