Canon has unveiled the EOS R8 Mark II, a full-frame camera featuring a new retro-inspired design and integrated in-body image stabilization. The device weighs 1.2 pounds and provides up to 7.5 stops of shake correction. It retains the 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor found in its predecessor and supports high-speed shooting at 40fps.
The camera includes the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system, which tracks animals, vehicles, and people with the ability to prioritize up to 10 registered faces. Video recording capabilities reach 4K at 60fps, with an option for 180fps at 1080p resolution. The body features a new multi-controller joystick and a repositioned SD card slot for tripod accessibility.
The EOS R8 Mark II is scheduled for release in late October. The body-only version will cost $1,899, while the bundle with a 24-50mm lens is priced at $2,099. Additionally, Canon will offer a grip extension accessory for $99.99.
Canon is introducing the Dual Pixel 3D Converter app for Windows in October. This free software utilizes autofocus data to transform 2D images into 3D models and videos. The camera also includes creative features like 16 color filters and an automated depth-of-blur adjustment tool.
