The Canon EOS R8 Mark II features a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor paired with the latest DIGIC image processor. The camera includes an upgraded Dual Pixel CMOS AF system that utilizes deep learning for improved tracking of faces, eyes, animals, and vehicles. These technical enhancements aim to improve low-light performance and dynamic range.
A major addition to the new model is the integrated five-axis In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) system. This hardware update addresses a limitation of the previous generation, allowing for better handheld shooting and video recording. The camera also includes a redesigned internal cooling system to extend recording times during high-resolution video capture.
For video creators, the device supports full-frame 6K oversampled 4K 60p recording, 10-bit 4:2:2 color sampling, and Canon Log 3. Canon has also increased the battery capacity to improve overall endurance. These features are designed to provide more flexibility for post-production color grading and extended shooting sessions.
The EOS R8 Mark II is priced at $1,699 for the body only. A kit option including the RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is available for $1,899. Pre-orders and retail availability are scheduled to begin next month through authorized Canon dealers and global imaging distribution channels.
