Canon has unveiled the EOS R8 Mark II, a full-frame mirrorless camera featuring a new retro-inspired design and an integrated five-axis image stabilization system. The camera weighs 545 grams and is capable of compensating for camera shake by up to 7.5 stops of exposure.

The device is equipped with a 24.2-megapixel full-frame sensor and an electronic shutter supporting continuous shooting at 40 frames per second. It includes the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system, which tracks people, animals, and vehicles, allowing users to register up to 10 individuals by face.

Video capabilities include 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, with an option for 180 frames per second at 1080p. The camera features a new joystick controller for focus point selection and a relocated microSD slot on the side panel for easier access when mounted on a tripod.

The camera will be available in late October with a starting price of $1899 for the body only, or $2099 when bundled with a 24–50 mm lens. An optional grip extension will be sold separately for $99.99.

Alongside the hardware, Canon will release a free Windows application called Dual Pixel 3D Converter. This tool utilizes autofocus data to generate 3D images, models, and short videos from standard 2D photographs.
