Canon has announced the Dual Pixel 3D Converter application for Windows, scheduled for release on October 8, 2026. The software is designed to transform images captured by compatible EOS R system cameras into high-quality 3D models.

The application processes Dual Pixel RAW images or JPEG data containing distance information from specific cameras, such as the EOS R8 Mark II, which is expected to launch in October 2026. It utilizes phase-difference information from the camera's CMOS sensor to calculate the three-dimensional shape of subjects.

Users can generate models of entire scenes or extract individual subjects. The software allows for adjustments to depth effects, the addition of simple animations, and custom backgrounds. Finished models can be exported for use in third-party 3D editing software.

Canon plans to offer enterprise-level solutions based on this technology by the end of 2026. These tools are intended for integration into professional workflows, including e-commerce, advertising, and photography services.
