BYD has officially launched the Sealion 08, the new flagship SUV in its Ocean series. Within the first 24 hours of its market debut on September 2, the company secured more than 12,000 orders for the vehicle. The SUV is available in both fully electric and plug-in hybrid configurations.
The vehicle features the Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging technology, allowing a charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes. A full charge from 10% to 97% takes 9 minutes. The electric version includes a 115.072 kWh battery, while the plug-in hybrid model utilizes a 55.843 kWh battery.
The Sealion 08 offers five- or six-seat layouts with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The electric model provides a CLTC range of up to 900 km, while the hybrid variant reaches a combined range of 1,650 km. Pricing for the lineup starts at ¥229,900.
Interior equipment includes a 17.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a 26-inch augmented-reality head-up display. Additional features consist of a 21.4-inch rear screen, a built-in refrigerator, and a 25-speaker Devialet sound system.
The SUV is equipped with the DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension and the God’s Eye 5.0 intelligent driving system. Measuring 5,115 mm in length, the Sealion 08 is comparable in size to the Hyundai IONIQ 9.
