Yangwang, the ultra-luxury division of BYD, is developing two new flagship models spotted during testing in China. The upcoming lineup includes a large sedan and an SUV, both designed to compete in the high-end luxury segment. Current Yangwang models, such as the U8 and U9, retail for over ¥1 million, which is approximately $150,000.
The new sedan features a long wheelbase and coach doors, resembling the Rolls-Royce Phantom. It is equipped with Maybach-style wheels and likely utilizes the DiSus-A air suspension system. The vehicle design includes a pillar-less chassis and a metal roof to ensure structural rigidity, potentially supported by an under-mounted load-bearing battery.
The new SUV was observed undergoing high-temperature testing in Turpan. Unlike the off-road-focused U8, this model adopts a profile similar to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, prioritizing on-road performance. It features a roof-mounted LiDAR unit and is expected to integrate the DiPilot 600 assisted driving system.
Technical specifications for the powertrains remain unconfirmed, though analysts suggest the SUV might utilize the e3 platform to optimize fuel efficiency. Both new models are expected to offer plug-in hybrid and pure electric configurations. In August 2026, Yangwang recorded 442 vehicle deliveries in China, maintaining consistent monthly growth.
