BYD is preparing to launch a new flagship executive sedan under its ultra-luxury brand, Yangwang. The vehicle, which features a long wheelbase and a length of approximately 5.5 meters, is designed to compete in the elite segment, drawing comparisons to the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class.
The prototype spotted in China reveals rear-hinged coach doors, a first for the manufacturer. The sedan is expected to utilize the quad-motor e4 platform, which is capable of delivering over 1,000 horsepower. Additionally, the vehicle was observed at a BYD Flash Charging station, suggesting support for megawatt-level fast charging.
Industry reports indicate the sedan may be the first BYD model to incorporate solid-state battery technology. While the company plans to begin limited production of sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries through its FinDreams division in 2027, mass production is not anticipated until around 2030.
The official debut of the sedan is scheduled for this month. Market estimates suggest the vehicle could be priced above ¥2 million, or approximately $300,000. This model will join the existing Yangwang lineup, which currently includes the U7 sedan, the U8 luxury SUV, and the U9 electric supercar.
