The second-generation BYD Seagull, also known as the Dolphin Mini or Surf in certain international markets, is scheduled for an official launch on October 20. The manufacturer has already opened blind pre-orders for the new model, which introduces significant updates to both its physical dimensions and technological capabilities.

A key addition to the vehicle is the integration of a LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof, which enhances the advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). The exterior design features a closed grille, sharp lines, and polygonal light clusters. Customers will be able to choose from six different exterior color options for the new model.

The vehicle has grown in size compared to the previous version, with an increase in length of 425 mm and a wheelbase extension of 150 mm. The interior has undergone a redesign, replacing the traditional instrument cluster with a larger central touchscreen. The cabin now includes a wireless charging pad, a two-spoke steering wheel, and additional storage space.

The new Seagull remains a pure electric vehicle, powered by a 95 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor. It is expected to feature the second-generation lithium iron phosphate Blade Battery, which supports flash charging. According to data, the current model recorded 83,604 units delivered between January and September 2026.
