BYD has officially teased the domestic launch of its Shark pickup truck under the Fang Cheng Bao sub-brand. The company shared promotional images on Weibo, marking the start of a marketing campaign for the plug-in hybrid model in China. This follows the vehicle's initial international release in Mexico in May 2024 and subsequent expansion into markets including Brazil, Australia, Cambodia, and Pakistan.

The Shark is built on BYD's DMO off-road platform and features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with front and rear electric motors. The motors provide peak outputs of 170 kW and 150 kW, respectively. The vehicle is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery produced by the company's FinDreams Battery unit. According to regulatory filings, the truck measures 5,457 mm in length, 1,971 mm in width, and 1,925 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,260 mm.

The model has demonstrated strong international performance, recording 4,300 sales in August and reaching a total of 29,997 units sold in the first eight months of the year. While the company has not yet announced a specific domestic launch date or pricing, the vehicle was included in a July filing by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The addition of the Shark will expand the Fang Cheng Bao lineup and increase competition with GWM and Geely's Radar brand.
