Bybit is expanding its European operations by seeking a MiFID II license to complement its existing MiCA authorization. The exchange aims to integrate traditional financial products, including stocks and derivatives, into its regional platform alongside existing cryptocurrency services.
The company secured MiCA authorization from the Austrian Financial Market Authority on May 28, 2025, through its subsidiary Bybit EU GmbH. This allowed the launch of a dedicated platform at bybit.eu in July 2025, which currently offers spot trading, a Bybit Card, and margin trading limited to 10x leverage.
In September 2025, Bybit X GmbH applied for a MiFID II license to enable the offering of regulated futures and options within the European Economic Area. This strategy distinguishes Bybit from competitors that primarily focus on MiCA compliance, positioning the exchange to compete with traditional brokerages.
While Bybit launched perpetual contracts for US stocks, ETFs, and commodities globally in April 2026, these products remain unavailable to European users due to regional regulatory boundaries. The company continues to align its product design with European investor protection standards.
