Buick has updated its Electra E7 plug-in hybrid SUV in China just five months after the initial April 22 launch. The refreshed model is available in three variants, with official guide prices ranging from ¥159 900 to ¥199 900. Limited-time incentives reduce these prices to a range of ¥147 900 to ¥187 900, with additional benefits worth ¥50 000 available for orders placed before October 8.

The mid-range variant now features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine instead of the previous naturally aspirated unit. The vehicle offers two powertrain options with outputs of 280 kW and 237 kW, both paired with a 32.6-kWh battery. The car achieves a CLTC electric range of 230 to 235 kilometers and a combined range of up to 1 630 kilometers. Fast charging from 30 percent to 80 percent takes 15 minutes.

The top-tier Turbo version includes an RTD continuously variable damping suspension that scans road conditions 500 times per second. Battery cells for the lower variants are supplied by Zenergy, while the Turbo model uses CATL cells. The vehicle integrates the Doubao large language model, an S2S voice model, and Momenta R6 reinforcement learning model.

Advanced driver-assistance systems, including LiDAR and seven high-definition cameras for urban and highway navigation, are available in the Pro and Turbo versions. As of September 16, Buick had produced 30 000 units of the Electra E7. In August, retail sales reached 4 863 units. The update follows a similar five-month refresh cycle recently adopted by other joint-venture brands in the Chinese market.
