Buick will release an updated version of its Electra E7 plug-in hybrid SUV in China on September 23. This update arrives just five months after the model's initial market debut on April 22.
The Electra E7 launched with an official starting price of ¥159,900, which could be reduced to ¥154,900 with incentives. Recent limited-time offers include a deposit promotion worth ¥6,000 and a trade-in subsidy of up to ¥7,000, bringing the starting price for some buyers to ¥149,900.
Production of the Electra E7 reached 30,000 units as of September 16. According to the China Passenger Car Association, retail sales for the model were 4,863 units in August and 4,911 units in July.
The current vehicle utilizes the Zhenlong plug-in hybrid Pro system, providing a CLTC battery range of 235 kilometers and a combined range of 1,630 kilometers. It features the R6 reinforcement-learning model from Momenta for autopilot and parking functions.
The Electra sub-brand, built on the Xiaoyao architecture, reached a production milestone of 150,000 vehicles on September 16. The SAIC-GM joint venture plans to introduce at least 30 new energy vehicle models by 2030.
