British investor Chris recovered 61 BTC after 12 years, which were valued at £3.33 million (approximately $4.5 million) at the time of return. He initially invested approximately £1,500 (about $2,000) in 2011 via the Britcoin platform, which was later renamed Intersango.

The Intersango exchange ceased trading in pounds and dollars in late 2012 and its website stopped functioning by early 2014. The company's UK legal entity was liquidated in 2016. Chris had previously attempted to recover the assets but failed, and in 2018, he ignored emails from the founders of the exchange thinking they were scams.

Following his wife's advice, Chris contacted the law firm CEL Solicitors in January 2026 to verify his rights to the coins. The process involved gathering bank statements from nearly 15 years ago and reviewing US court proceedings. After negotiations, he received all 61 BTC between January 20 and May 28.
