Brazil's Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) has established a dedicated working group to develop regulatory frameworks for tokenized securities. The initiative focuses on registration, custody, and settlement processes using distributed ledger technology, integrating tokenization into the national capital market modernization agenda.
Liqi Digital Assets and XDC Network have extended their partnership for two years, increasing their total issuance target for real-world assets to $2 billion by 2028. The companies previously completed their initial $500 million goal nine months ahead of schedule, taking approximately 15 months to reach the target.
The expanded agreement includes $1.5 billion in new planned issuance. Liqi has already tokenized roughly $835 million across 386 series and 60 asset pools on the XDC network. The platform utilizes 378 smart contracts to support various credit instruments, including trade receivables and corporate debt.
Major financial institutions, such as Itau BBA, Banco BV, Banco ABC Brasil, and Creditas, have participated in these issuances. XDC Network remains the exclusive blockchain for Liqi’s RWA operations, as the partners look to expand into structured credit and trade finance.
The broader tokenized credit market continues to grow, with RWA.xyz tracking $7.82 billion in distributed tokenized credit. While Ethereum currently leads the RWA sector with $17.6 billion in value, the Brazilian market is seeing increased activity through both private initiatives and the Central Bank’s Drex project.
