The Botsman platform, a subsidiary of Astra Group, has completed a pilot implementation of its container orchestration system within RusHydro. Previously, the energy company utilized containerization on isolated virtual machines, which lacked centralized management and automated scaling, leading to increased operational costs and deployment delays.

The transition began with the migration of a corporate distance learning environment and several smaller projects. Simultaneously, a new corporate portal was developed directly on the Botsman platform using GitOps methodologies, which reportedly improved development speed and deployment efficiency.

Currently, the infrastructure includes two clusters: a management cluster and a production cluster. The implementation integrated various tools, including container security scanning, backup systems, monitoring, and corporate user identity management. Future plans involve connecting an S3-compatible object storage system.

Sergey Khomyakov, Director of IT and Digital Development at RusHydro, noted that the platform facilitated a shift toward a unified DevOps ecosystem. Mikhail Kobik, CTO of Botsman, highlighted the project as a case study for industrial enterprises moving from fragmented containerization to standardized orchestration.
