Boox has revealed new details about its upcoming Picco e-reader following a teaser in July. The device features a 3.97-inch touchscreen e-paper display and physical buttons for turning pages, which support custom actions for short and long presses.

Unlike similar devices, the Picco lacks magnets for phone attachment. It does not include internal storage, requiring a microSD card for books. Users can transfer files via a USB-C port or over WiFi using a companion application.

The reader operates on a lightweight Linux-based system rather than Android. It comes pre-installed with basic tools, including a timer, a task list, and a reading statistics tracker. Boox has not indicated plans to open the firmware for user modifications.

Several specifications remain unconfirmed, such as the retail price, battery performance, Bluetooth capabilities, and potential audiobook support. The company expects to release the device in November.
