BMW has begun testing the 2027 iX5 ahead of its upcoming US market launch. The vehicle features the new Double-X headlight design, which integrates low-beam, daytime running, side, and turn signal lights into a single unit. Owners can disable the Double-X icons in favor of simpler diagonal stripes.

The 2027 iX5 60 xDrive is built on the sixth-generation eDrive system with an 800V architecture. The US version will be equipped with a 144 kWh battery, with an estimated EPA range of up to 435 miles. The vehicle supports DC fast charging up to 460 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in 23 minutes, and includes bidirectional charging capabilities.

The dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain delivers 578 hp and 593 lb-ft of torque, achieving 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The model follows the Neue Klasse design language. Production is scheduled to start at the Spartanburg plant by the end of the year, making it the first all-electric BMW produced in the US.

The US launch is set for early 2027 with a starting price of $79 800, excluding a $1 450 destination fee. In Europe, the iX5 60 xDrive is already available for order, starting at €102 800.
