BMW M has officially reached a production milestone of one million vehicles. To commemorate the event, the company produced a special BMW M3 in Fire Orange III at its main factory in Munich, Germany. The keys were presented by Munich plant head Peter Weber to BMW M CEO Frank van Meel during a ceremony celebrating the brand's history.

The Munich facility is set to become the production hub for the next-generation all-electric BMW M3. This model will be the first high-performance vehicle to utilize BMW M's Neue Klasse technology. It will follow the electric BMW i3 as the second Neue Klasse model to be assembled at the Munich plant.

BMW is investing approximately €650 million to transform its main factory. The project involves upgrading about one-third of the facility, including the construction of a new body shop, redesigned assembly areas, and modernized logistics infrastructure. The company completed these upgrades without halting current production lines.

The plant is scheduled to transition to exclusively electric vehicle production by 2027. This shift marks a significant change for the site, which has been producing the current-generation M3 since 2020. The upcoming electric M3 aims to maintain the brand's core philosophy of combining track performance with daily usability.
