BMW reports that its new iX3 electric SUV has secured over 100,000 orders in Europe within its first year on the market. This figure represents approximately one-third of all electric vehicle orders for the brand in the region. The model also accounts for nearly half of the total orders for the entire X3 lineup.
The iX3 is the first vehicle built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform and utilizes the sixth-generation eDrive architecture. This technology features an 800V system and new cylindrical battery cells, which BMW claims provide a 30% increase in driving range and 30% faster charging speeds. The vehicle supports DC fast-charging up to 400 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 21 minutes.
In Germany, the iX3 40 starts at €63,400 with a WLTP range of 628 km, while the iX3 50 xDrive starts at €73,925 with a range of up to 805 km. In the US, the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive is priced from $61,500 with an EPA-estimated range of 434 miles. The model also recently launched in China with a starting price of ¥269,900.
BMW is expanding its electric portfolio, with orders for the new i3 set to open later this month. The company aims to introduce 40 new and updated vehicles featuring Neue Klasse technology and design by the end of 2027. This strategy is intended to bolster the automaker's competitive position against major market rivals like Tesla and BYD.
