BMW China has initiated a recall of 5,593 imported S1000RR motorcycles, as reported to the State Administration for Market Regulation. The recall, identified by number S2026M0118V, covers units manufactured between October 27, 2020, and April 7, 2026.
The issue stems from potential wear on internal ignition lock components caused by vibration, which can lead to poor electrical contact. This defect may result in engine stalling and the failure of critical electrical systems, including lights and instrument displays.
Authorized dealers will provide a free software update to implement a two-level warning mechanism. For motorcycles with over 1,500 kilometers of mileage, dealers will perform a functional test after the update. If fault records are detected, the ignition lock will be replaced.
BMW China is notifying affected owners via registered mail. Customers can also contact the company's after-sales service hotline at 400-800-6666 for further information regarding the recall process.
