BMW China has clarified the security features of the upcoming Neue Klasse BMW iX3. The vehicle will not feature a traditional Sentry Mode, but instead offers a Parking Collision Recording function designed to capture evidence during incidents.
When the vehicle is parked and locked, the system detects impacts of a certain force. Upon detection, it automatically records surrounding video and sends a notification to the owner via the MyBMW App. Users can then view the footage inside the vehicle or export it to their mobile devices.
The system is specifically calibrated to ignore minor vibrations or environmental disturbances, such as wind, to prevent false alerts. This collision-triggered logic differs from continuous monitoring systems used by other manufacturers, which may record whenever objects or people approach the car.
BMW emphasizes that this approach prioritizes energy efficiency while ensuring that owners receive relevant notifications only when actual damage or significant contact occurs. The feature aims to provide reliable video evidence for insurance or reporting purposes.
Pre-orders for the new BMW iX3 opened during the Chengdu Motor Show. The company confirmed that deliveries are scheduled to begin in November, with unified pricing applied to all models and optional equipment across the country.
