The NFT marketplace Blur has announced the shutdown of its user interface on November 12, 2026. While the website will cease operations, the underlying marketplace protocol will remain active on-chain, and BLUR token holders will retain control over the fee switch mechanism.

The platform's lending protocol, Blend, will stop matching new loan requests. Users are required to repay existing loans before the deadline or face default. Developers plan to release a separate interface for asset withdrawals from Blend after November 12, though the specific launch date remains undisclosed.

The decision follows a significant decline in trading activity. Monthly trading volume on Blur dropped from $1,43 billion in March 2023 to less than $7 million, marking a decrease of over 99,5%. Following the announcement, the price of the BLUR token fell by more than 30% to $0,012, with market capitalization shrinking to approximately $37,2 million.

The shutdown of the Blur interface aligns with a broader trend of project closures in the ecosystem. Recently, the L2 networks Blast and Abstract also announced plans to cease operations due to high maintenance costs and low liquidity. Abstract is scheduled to shut down on December 15, 2026.
