Jeff Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin, has indicated that the company may pursue an initial public offering in the coming years. While no specific timeline was provided, Bezos noted that transitioning to a public entity could eventually be a logical step for the space operator.
The company has already secured $10 billion in funding during its first investment round, reaching a valuation of $130 billion. Since founding the company in 2000, Bezos has personally invested $28 billion into the venture, which operates alongside major contracts from NASA and the US Space Force.
Operational progress faced a setback this year when a New Glenn rocket exploded during static fire testing. Despite this incident, the company aims to resume launches before the end of the year, with a scheduled attempt in December to regain momentum in the commercial space market.
Blue Origin currently competes in a sector dominated by SpaceX. By potentially entering the stock market, the company would offer investors a new opportunity to participate in the space industry, which has seen a significant increase in market interest recently.
