Bitwise has launched the first spot Near ETF in the United States, which began trading on the NYSE Arca exchange under the ticker NRR. The fund allows investors to gain exposure to the Near blockchain through standard brokerage accounts without needing a crypto wallet.

The ETF charges an annual fee of 0.75%. Unlike futures-based products, this fund holds actual Near tokens. Bitwise intends to stake these assets to capture rewards, estimated at approximately 5%, which will be reflected in the fund's share value.

The Near blockchain, a layer-1 network launched in 2020, is currently positioned by Bitwise as a platform for AI agents. The project's AI focus is linked to co-founder Illia Polosukhin, who co-created the Transformer architecture.

The fund's launch follows regulatory changes in September 2025, when the SEC approved generic listing standards for crypto funds. Bitwise previously filed for a Near fund in April 2025, while Grayscale filed to convert its Near trust into an ETF in January 2026.
