Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, CEO of Bitpanda, states that the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) has strengthened retail investor confidence in licensed platforms. He notes that the framework provides uniform rules that enhance security and transparency across the European Economic Area.
Bitpanda received its MiCA authorization from the German regulator BaFin in January 2025 and from the Austrian FMA in April 2025. These approvals cover seven services, including custody and the exchange of fiat and crypto assets, allowing the company to operate across borders.
By the end of 2025, Bitpanda reported 7.4 million registered users and an adjusted annual revenue of €371 million, representing a 25% year-over-year growth. Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad assumed the role of CEO in November 2025.
In September 2026, Bitpanda partnered with Raiffeisen Bank International to provide crypto trading services to up to 18 million potential customers across 11 European markets. Previously, in August 2026, the Austrian FMA fined Bitpanda €70 000 for issues regarding marketing and white paper submissions.
