BitGo, a global institutional digital asset custodian, officially opened its Brazilian subsidiary, BitGo Brasil Tecnologia Ltda., on July 25, 2025. The company aims to provide compliant custody services to local banks and brokerages as the country updates its regulatory framework for virtual asset service providers.
The Brazilian securities regulator, CVM, established a Tokenization Working Group in July 2026. This body, which includes organizations such as ANBIMA and ABCripto, is tasked with creating an experimental framework for tokenized securities that aligns with distributed ledger technology standards.
As of September 2026, Brazil has recorded $835 million in tokenized assets. This volume is distributed across 386 series, 60 asset pools, and 378 unique smart contracts, covering structured credit instruments and various real-world assets.
The national exchange B3, which functions similarly to the NYSE, plans to launch its own tokenization platform and a stablecoin product by late 2026. BitGo intends to support the institutional firms expected to issue these tokenized products at scale.
