Bitget has integrated its institutional trading services with Sygnum Bank’s off-exchange custody platform, Sygnum Protect. This move allows institutional clients to store their collateral in segregated, bankruptcy-remote accounts regulated under Swiss law, while Bitget mirrors these positions for active trading.
The integration ensures that assets remain outside the exchange's balance sheet, preventing commingling with company funds or creditor claims. Sygnum Protect supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, stablecoins, and yield-bearing US Treasuries, which allow institutions to earn returns on idle collateral.
Sygnum launched the Protect platform in April 2024. By the end of 2025, the platform saw asset growth exceeding 900%, surpassing $1 billion in value. It currently stands as the largest bank-operated off-exchange custody solution in the market.
Bitget joins a list of exchanges already using the service, including Binance, Deribit, and Bybit. Collectively, these platforms account for over half of the global spot and derivatives trading volume. Bitget currently serves more than 125 million users across over 150 countries.
