Bitget is focusing on institutional services in its ninth year of operation. The exchange is implementing a Universal Exchange strategy that supports multiple custody models for crypto and tokenized assets, moving away from a single-setup requirement.
The platform utilizes off-exchange settlement, allowing institutions to trade while keeping assets with third-party custodians like Copper or Fireblocks. This structure aims to reduce counterparty risk by keeping collateral outside the exchange.
Bitget has established partnerships with several regulated custodians, including Sygnum and Komainu. The exchange also maintains integrations with services such as Copper ClearLoop, Cactus Custody Oasis, Fireblocks Off Exchange, OSL MirrorEX, and Bitfire PrimeMirror.
According to a 2025 AIMA and PwC report, 55% of traditional hedge funds held digital assets in 2025, compared to 47% in 2024. A Coinbase and EY-Parthenon survey of 351 firms indicates that 61% of institutional investors use more than one custodian.
