Analyst Gert van Lagen stated on September 21, 2026, that Bitcoin has formed its first higher high since reaching a peak of $126 000. This development marks the end of a year-long downtrend that began in late 2025. At the time of the analysis, the asset was trading at approximately $85 900.
Van Lagen projects price targets for the current cycle between $300 000 and $450 000. These figures represent a potential increase of 3.5x to 5.2x from current levels. The analyst bases his long-term outlook on Elliott Wave patterns, historical post-halving behavior, and trendline analysis.
The recent price movement coincides with a golden cross, where the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day. Additionally, the market has seen hundreds of millions of dollars in inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, alongside significant short liquidations that have accelerated upward momentum.
Macroeconomic conditions, including recent actions by the Federal Reserve, have provided support for Bitcoin. Data on long-term holders indicates that selling pressure may be exhausted, as these investors have not capitulated despite the drawdown from the previous peak.
Bitcoin is currently trading about 16% below the $100 000 threshold. Market observers are monitoring whether the asset can maintain its new higher high structure and successfully reclaim the $100 000 level to trigger further momentum-driven capital flows.
