The CryptoQuant Bull Score Index fell from 80 to 30 in one week following the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates by 25 basis points on September 16, 2026. This move brought the target interest rate range to 3.75%-4.00%, marking the first rate hike by the Fed since 2023.
Bitcoin is currently trading at approximately $76,000, reflecting a 4% decline over the past week. The Bull Score Index, which uses on-chain and market signals, classifies readings above 60 as bullish and below 40 as bearish. The index dropped 50 points despite the rate hike being anticipated by the market.
Projections suggest at least one additional rate increase before the end of 2026, which could push the target range toward 4.25%. Current market conditions show weakened sentiment among short-term holders and a reversal in ETF flows from inflows to outflows.
CryptoQuant analysts state that a return to a sustained bullish market requires the Bull Score Index to exceed 60 and the price of Bitcoin to surpass $83,000. The current price is roughly 9% below this required threshold.
