Bitcoin has recorded a weekly close above its 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks. This technical milestone, observed on Sunday, follows a period of volatility where the asset remained below this threshold since November 2025.

Alex Thorn, head of firmwide research at Galaxy, noted that historically, reclaiming the 50-week moving average serves as a confirmation that bear market lows have been reached. Data shows that in 13 past instances of this signal, only two were followed by lower lows.

The asset reached a cycle low of $58 525 on June 30, 2026, representing a 53.1% decline from its October 2025 peak of $124 824. Since that low point, Bitcoin has appreciated by 39%.

At the time of the report, Bitcoin was trading at $81 341. The current price sits 3.0% above the 50-week moving average of $78 786 and 23.9% above the 200-week moving average of $65 487, which has historically acted as a market floor.
