Over the past week, centralized exchanges saw a total outflow of approximately 31,782 BTC, valued at roughly $2,52 billion. This trend reflects a shift toward self-custody as Bitcoin holders move their assets away from trading platforms.
Binance recorded the largest share of these withdrawals, accounting for about 19,500 BTC. In a single day, the platform saw net outflows exceeding 13,800 BTC. Analysts at CryptoQuant interpret this activity as accumulation behavior rather than liquidation.
Coinbase Pro and Kraken also experienced significant outflows, with 6,700 BTC and 2,816 BTC withdrawn respectively. The movement from Coinbase Pro is particularly noted for potentially involving institutional-grade participants.
The withdrawals occurred while Bitcoin traded in the mid-$80,000 range, following a recent peak near $87,400. Data from Glassnode and CryptoQuant suggests that these outflows correlate with a consistent decline in exchange reserves throughout 2026.
This trend coincides with ongoing inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs, which have been active since early 2024. The current market dynamic involves a simultaneous reduction in exchange-based sell-side liquidity and increased institutional demand for regulated ETF products.
