US spot Bitcoin ETFs are currently facing a year-to-date deficit of approximately $1 billion. This figure represents the net difference between investor outflows and inflows recorded since the beginning of 2026.

The market experienced significant pressure in June 2026, when net redemptions reached roughly $4.5 billion. This period, following heavy outflows in May, created a substantial gap in the annual performance of these financial products.

August 2026 marked a recovery with net inflows of $3.52 billion, representing the strongest monthly performance of the year. This momentum continued into September, with approximately $3.8 billion in fresh capital entering the funds over a three-week period.

For the week ending September 5, net inflows totaled $986.9 million. A single session on September 3 saw an inflow of $730.9 million, which helped reduce the cumulative deficit to the current level of about $1 billion.

Since their inception on January 11, 2024, US spot Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated total net inflows of approximately $55.6 billion. The aggregate assets under management for these funds currently stand at roughly $101.3 billion.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust remains the largest fund in the category, supported by Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund. While these products drive recovery, legacy offerings like Grayscale’s GBTC continue to report ongoing redemptions.
