The BioInnovation Institute (BII) has allocated €9.52 million in convertible loans to 17 early-stage startups. Each participant in the Venture Programme receives €560,000, along with access to laboratory infrastructure in Copenhagen and a network of experts and investors.

The funding follows a €736 million commitment from the Novo Nordisk Foundation to BII. This capital supports the institute's expansion across Europe and its goal to increase the number of annual startup investments from approximately 20 to 30 companies.

The selected startups focus on sectors including biotechnology, healthcare, and climate technology. Among the participants are Fibernex, which works on hydrogen production electrodes, and KhaosGuard, which develops laser systems for real-time greenhouse gas emission monitoring.

Other companies in the cohort include AI-driven firms like Affinity AI and IQopta, as well as hardware developers such as Lucore Technology and Copenhagen Microsystems. Since its inception, BII has provided support to more than 140 companies.

BII aims to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial application. By providing business development and scientific guidance, the institute helps founders scale their technologies into international businesses.
