Binance has fully covered user losses following a major security breach using its own corporate treasury. The exchange confirmed that it did not rely on external financing, loans, or asset sales to address the shortfall.
The funds were sourced from three internal reserves: the Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), a portion of the futures insurance fund, and the company's general reserves. As of October 31, 2026, the company allocated $6.34 billion to replenish user accounts.
By November 1, 2026, Binance had restored approximately 90% of the affected funds, an increase from the previous estimate of 80%. Ten specific assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether, reached 100% reserve backing by the end of October.
For the remaining tokens, the exchange plans to continue purchasing assets via open market and over-the-counter channels. No specific deadline has been set for completing the full replenishment of the remaining balance.
The company released a new Proof of Reserves snapshot on October 31, 2026. It intends to provide full zero-knowledge proofs by November 3, 2026, to verify that total reserves cover user liabilities without exposing individual account data.
